5 EASY METHODS to Kill Deerclops! (Don't Starve Together)
In this Don’t Starve Together Deerclops guide, I show you 5 ways to kill Deerclops. I also tell you why you should kill Deerclops, Deerclop’s stats, and give Deerclops tips and tricks.

Deerclops, the first giant players encounter. He has 4,000 hp, deals 75 area of effect damage in a circle around himself, and freezes the player and other enemies if he hits two consecutive hits. He also has a -400/min sanity aura when engaged in combat with the player, and a -100 sanity aura otherwise. On top of all that, he actively seeks out and destroys structures, and he spawns in the middle of the night on day 30.

This situation is the opposite of safe, especially for an unprepared player, that’s why I’m going to tell you how to make this fight go from a daunting task, to a walk through the park.

Before Deerclops spawns, you are going to need to prepare, I’m going to tell you (number of tactics) to kill Deerclops, in order from easiest to hardest methods.

The easiest method I call the /”raid boss/” method. It’s extremely easy to execute, requires little to no gear, but is also extremely dangerous, and can risk losing the loot.

The next easiest method by far is tanking. Easy to execute, barely dangerous, and requires a lot of gear.

The third easiest method is kiting, which requires less setup, but also requires you to not mess up,

The forth method I call the Treeguard method, and is very easy to execute, but horribly difficult to set up.

The fifth method I call the pon-off method. It’s extremely difficult to execute, not dangerous, and requires very little to no setup.

Raid boss method; this method is simple but extremely dangerous, all you have to do is have Deerclops fight a raid boss, he will lose. The easiest ones to have him battle with are the Bee Queen, and the Dragonfly. Just hit him, and run away from him slowly, so that he attacks, but misses you, this will keep his aggro. Then move towards a raid boss location, and have him fight it. This can be extremely dangerous, because for a little bit, you may be attacked by both Deerclops and the raid boss. For this method, I’d recommend having a football helmet, walking cane, and lantern. The lantern will be necessary due to Deerclop’s spawning during the night.

Tanking method; This method only works for characters with a 1.0x damage multiplier or higher, and with a maximum HP of 150. So this WILL NOT WORK on the current version of Wendy, Maxwell, and Wes, without upgrading the gear used. This method is quite easy to carry out, make sure your sanity is full, and hp is full, make a brand new hambat, have two brand new football helmets, and have a campfire precrafted. When Deerclops spawns, make sure you’re not near your base, hit him, run away, and place the campfire, lure him on top of it, and dodge his last attack, then stand right on top of the campfire and hold ctrlf. The campfire will unfreeze you as long as you are close enough to it. This method will leave you with 15 hp, and no sanity. So be wary of shadow creatures afterwards, and look for healing immediately. Also note that if you’re playing Willow, you will likely freeze to death immediately afterwards, so it’s inadvisable to do this method.

Kiting, kiting is the method that most experienced players use, it requires basically no setup, and costs no resources if done correctly. Make sure if you attempt this method that you are sufficiently warm before starting it, I’d also recommend having a lantern, due to Deerclops always spawning at night. When Deerclops spawns, find him and aggro him, dodge his first attack and place the lantern. Then, dodge his second attack, and run towards him and hit him three times, then run away again. Repeat this until you kill him, or until shadow creatures spawn. If shadow creatures spawn, pawn Deerclops off on nearby mobs, such as bees or spiders, and kill the shadow creatures by dodging them when they run up to you, and hitting them after that, hold down ctrlf after that, as they may teleport on top of you. Then, repeat the steps from the beginning.

Treeguard method, this method is simple, but requires way too much setup. Simply spawn two treeguards, lure them back nearby your base, and plant pinecones around them to pacify them, then when Deerclops spawns, have him hit them, they will then kill him, and almost die themselves.

Pon-off, all this method is is luring Deerclops to fight monsters that will damage him repeatedly, such as into tentacles, bees, pengulls, etc. Note for this method that Deerclops does 150 damage to mobs a hit, not 75 like he does to you.
