What developers from CynapsArts Studio mean when they say this is a classic RTS is that in Ablight you will have all the main gameplay components that you would expect from an old school real time strategy game. Meaning resource collection, base building, unit recruitment and combat between three asymmetrical factions, each one featuring a unique playstyle with their own mechanics and strengths.

These developers don’t want to go down the path of reducing player’s command load like a few new studios have already done with their upcoming games and simplified resource collection tasks for example. So in Ablight you retain full control of all your units, including the ones responsible for resource collection but developers don’t want you to experience frustration with a high actions per minute requirement either. This is why they have designed Ablight’s gameplay without heroes but with fully Customizable Hotkeys and the Smart Queue features to keep it fun and action packed.

This also isn’t going to be one of those either only Single or only Multiplayer games, but a full product giving you a compelling story experience in its lore filled campaign as well as many multiplayer modes. Current plan is for the campaign to be made up of seven complex and unique missions along with some sidequests, playable in co-op and if the game is successful Developers say they will support it with a new campaign chapter or even a fourth faction.

When it comes to the resources system there will be three of them: carbon, ore and transcendium which is going to be your high value tech resource. The other two will be primarily used for building construction and unit recruitment. Resources aren’t exactly finite in Ablight, but they are close to it, as when you use up a node it will still provide a small amount of its resource over time. This is done to prevent possible issues with both players running completely out of resources during a match.

And on the subject of matches you should expect short to medium match length of around 15 minutes. Gameplay modes are many, starting with skirmish against AI that you can customize and which developers promise will actively adapt to give you a challenge.

Then there is the multiplayer with ranked matchmaking and in-game ladder as well as the regular custom multiplayer of up to 2v2 to start with and later probably 3v3. Watching and sharing replays of these will be an option as well as observing them as they are played.

And that is not all! Two more gameplay modes are Sandbox and Survival. The former will be useful to test units and learn their stats, strengths and weaknesses while the latter sets you up against endless hordes of enemies.

The in-game editor will be a way for everyone among you with the creative flair to create new maps and scenarios which will probably be shared through Steam’s workshop support. The default maps are large and number in the dozens with various beautiful biomes.
