Dead Space is a science fiction, survival horror video game originally published in 2008 by Electronic Arts. Dead Space was instantly a success, leading to multiple sequels including Dead Space 2, and Dead Space 3. Over the years Dead Space has grown into a survival horror video game classic. Dead Space was again released in January 2023 after receiving updates graphically and with quality of life updates. The 2023 re-release of Dead Space includes a completely rebuilt game boasting a more immersive experience for the player. Creators Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey worked to develop the game alongside Visceral Games and others. Dead Space is mainly set in the 26th century, a futuristic, dark setting, containing high levels of science fiction and horror elements. The protagonist of the Dead Space series is engineer Isaac Clarke. The story line goes that in the future the human race has set out to the starts to colonize the galaxy and other planets besides earth. Earth is dying and most of its natural resources have been depleted so humanity has began harvesting and colonizing other planets. Isaac Clarke is an engineer who is dispatched on a search and rescue mission to work on a /”planet cracker/” which is a large spaceship that mines materials out of planets for the humans to use. Isaac Clarke and his crew arrive on the Ishimura to discover that all communications are down, the spaceship appears abandoned, and no workers in site. After boarding the Ishimura to investigate Isaac and his crew are immediately attacked by violent grotesque monsters called /”Necromorphs/”. These creatures were once human and have began morphing and mutating into horrifying creatures that will attack on sight to eat the living. Isaac and his crew are separated and being a journey to escape with their lives. Along the way Isaac hopes to find the love of his life he believes is trapped on the ship somewhere and hopefully uncover some answers. Isaac Clarke has no idea he has stumbled upon a powerful unholy cult. Isaac begins to suffer from hallucinations and little by little the story beings to reveal itself.
