Ambra is a great laner, controlling the minions waves is paramount for her success after the nerfs from beta. Her damage is there if you can mix all her abilities together, but her ability to survive is where Ambra really shines. People want to gank her, but her ability to dish out some damage and out live her opponents is the way to win.
