Since sedentism, we have altered the earth so much that more and more scientists say a new name is required for this geological era – the anthropocene, the human epoch. During the course of the millennia, the basis of our nutrition increasingly became agriculture, to the detriment of the soil. Industrialised agriculture and migration of plants caused by humans have led to noticeable changes to nature and are having severe consequences.
