Here are the steps/notes for the Steam Branch from their Discord:
To switch to Preview Branch:
Right click on Bellwright in your Steam Library
Click Properties – Betas
Enter password yesimadebackups
Pick previewbranch
Shoutout to Valheim devs for this password idea Please make sure you backup your saves every time you switch to Preview Branch and use them when switching back. Loading saves from Preview Branch on old version will break your saves and we won’t be able to fix them
To backup your saves:
Go to C://Users//username//AppData//Local//Bellwright//Saved//SaveGames
Copy the folder with numbers to another folder to keep it safe
If you’re switching from Preview Branch to main branch BEFORE the official update, make sure to replace the folder with the one you backed up. If you’d like to save progress on both versions, you can copy the folder again somewhere else
If you’re playing on Preview Branch and switch AFTER the main branch update, you can keep playing with the same saves and keep your progress
