I’ve been following the development of this game for the past few years because Adriana was hired to do vocals for one of the songs. I knew the soundtrack would be done by the incredible Aivi & Surasshu (who did the OST for Steven Universe and more!) but I didn’t expect this game to have some of my all time favorite songs by them. This song in particular had guitars done by the absolutely amazing guitarist @Stemage, and on top of his incredible playing the rhythm play in this song really drew me in. I’m a huge fan of acts like Plini and Chon so hearing this song and deciding to cover it finally gave me a chance to experiment with a math rock sound.

I’ve always loved interesting time signatures in game music and this will go down as one of my favorite examples. Try to figure out what’s going on with the time signature on the main riff and let me know if you figure it out in the comments! I think it’s cool since this is Rook’s theme and being very absorbed in books, his theme is also hard to really know how to groove to it at first. Rook is a really chill character so I initially didn’t want to go too heavy with this cover, but it was hard to resist with the way the song leant itself to metal so I kinda just let it all out.
