Paradox games enable a player to live out nation-building, king-leading fantasy’s, but a series of mods that have always taken this to the next level is the Crusader Kings Game of Thrones mods. CK2’s Game Of Thrones Mod transformed the game world into the world of a song of ice and fire with amazing events, dozens of great start scenarios and other companion mods that added in many of the mythical time-periods not in the base mod. CK3, however has been out for almost 2 and ½ years and in that time people have been patiently waiting for that game to be transformed like it’s the previous installment into the world of a song ice and fire. Now, finally the CK3 Game of Thrones mod and nearer and nearer and it looks amazing.
The mod is beautifully fleshed out with many new mechanics and updates to old ones. Including great additions to how the nights watch works, significant expansion of the Westeros map with many more lords, a great increase to the quality of the map, and great changes to how megawars/ large wars will function within the mod. There will also be features like the kings guard , Roberts rebellion start dates etc… There will also be many more features as the new ck3 game of thrones mod is expanded including adding earlier start dates as the ck2 mod had, expanding the map to include essos and more of the world, alongside appearing to heavily flesh out a start date for the House of the Dragon series that has come out certainly. I think combined with the fact that Game of Thrones has been brought to many new fans and revived for many by The House Of The Dragon many people who have crusader kings 3 or want to play a game based on the show will be lured into playing CK3 Game of Thrones. While there is no definite time on when this mod will be released, the devs have been pumping out great videos and dev diaries on youtube and reddit respectively and if you want to get a deep dive into how the mod is going you should get out both of those in the description.
Overall, one of my favorite mods and reasons why still play ck2 is finally coming to ck3 with the ck3 game of thrones mod, and while I like ck3 I think this will help fully cement my transition to the game from it’s previous installment.
