With Israel still at war , and the intense rise of antisemitism, I needed some delicious comforting foods to look forward to this Shabbat. I started with a warm hot chocolate to get me going in my prep. The hot matzo ball soup was the perfect start to the Shabbat prep. There is nothing like a hot bowl of soup to comfort the soul. Of Course I finished my prep with some yummy and cozy dessert recipes like warm gooey apple pie and oatmeal Craisins cookies. It’s not Shabbat without some hot crusty sourdough bread so I shared my technique for that as well. I hope this video and recipes bring some comfort to you and your family.


2 cups of milk
1/4 cup heavy cream
3-4 tbsp sugar
4 tbspn cocoa powder
Whipped cream
Shaved chocolate

Oatmeal Craisins Cookies: https://bakeitwithlove.com/oatmeal-craisin-cookies/

Apple pie dough:
2.5 cups APF
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 Cup Almond milk
1/2 Cup oil

Apple filling:
Melt 8 tbsp butter I used dairy free earths balance. Whisk in 3 Tbsp flour then simmer for 1 minute, whisking constantly. Whisk in 1/4 cup water, 1 cup sugar and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and continue simmering 3 minutes, whisking frequently then remove from heat.
Peel, core, and slice 7 cups of Granny Smith apples. Sprinkle 1 tbsp of cinnamon and mix. Add the butter mixture to the apples Ave combine thoroughly.

Bake pie at 425F for 15 minutes, then lower the flame to 350F for 45 minutes.
