Who would have thought that a game in the spirit of Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon with Disney characters would be one of the most fun and entertaining games of 2022? Because that is just what it is! I had no real expectations with this game when going in, but I like what I saw in the trailers and quickly fell in love with the colorful art style and it’s many characters. It was a blast of nostalgia to visit and interact with all these characters we know and love like Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald but also characters like Ursula, Moana and the cutest robot in the form of Wall-E. In some ways this game reminded me of the old PS1 classic Digimon World where you are tasked with rebuilding a village inhabited by Digimon. Because that is exactly what you do here but instead with Disney characters. I don’t consider myself really a fan of Animal Crossing type games, but the premise of rebuilding the village and then seeing all the inhabitants living our their daily lives in the town that you helped create was so satisfying.
The pacing and overall mood of the game is just so chill and relaxing. Meaning that even though some of the quests require some grinding it never felt like a big chore. I always wanted to know what mysterious biome we would unlock next or which funny character we will meet. It always was a great motivation to keep playing and I loved that there are plenty of quests to do with the characters once they settled into your village. The Disney charm in this game works wonders and is probably the best Disney game we have had in years. There will be plenty of DLC with new stories and characters in the future, so I will be sure to archive those as well!
