NOTE: Correction on oven direction at 4:04 bake in the oven for 350 fahrenheit / 176 Celsius.
Ingredients:
Oil (Tel) – 1/4 cup
Cumin (Zeera) – 1 tbsp
Garlic paste (Lehsan) – 1 tsp
Ginger paste (Adrak) – 1 tsp
Ground chicken (Keema) – 1/2 KG
Salt (Namak) – 1 tsp (To taste)
Red chilli powder (Laal mirch) – 1 tsp
Crushed roasted cumin (Bhuna kuta zeera) – 1 tbsp
Onion (Pyaz) – 1 large (Chopped)
Fresh coriander (Dhania) – 1/2 cup (Finely chopped)
Mint (Podina) – 1/2 cup (Finely chopped)
Green chilli (Hari mirch) – 5 small or to taste (Chopped)
Crushed roasted coriander (Bhuna kuta dhania) – 1 tbsp
Breadcrumbs – 2 tbsp
Puff Pastry – 1 pack (397 g)
Egg (Anda) – 1 (egg yolk)
Directions:
Prepare filing:
– In a pan on medium heat, add Oil (Tel) – 1/4 cup
– Once oil heats up, add Cumin (Zeera) – 1 tbsp and saute for 30 secs
– Add Garlic paste (Lehsan) and Ginger paste (Adrak) – 1 tsp each
– Add Ground chicken (Keema) and mix well and cook for 2-3 mins
– Add the following ingredients and cook for 5-7 mins
a. Salt (Namak) – 1 tsp (To taste)
b. Red chilli powder (Laal mirch) – 1 tsp
c. Crushed roasted cumin (Bhuna kuta zeera) – 1 tbsp
– Add Onion (Pyaz) – 1 large (Chopped) & cook for 2 mins
– Add the following ingredients:
a. Green chili (Hari mirch) – 5 small or to taste (Chopped)
b. Fresh coriander (Dhania) – 1/2 cup (Finely chopped)
c. Mint (Podina) – 1/2 cup (Finely chopped)
d. Crushed roasted coriander (Bhuna kuta dhania) – 1 tbsp
e. Breadcrumbs – 2 tbsp
– The filling is now ready.
Assemble patties:
– Evenly roll out room temperature puff pastry (makes 10-12 patties)
*You can buy puff pastry from any grocery store or bakery
– Apply chicken filling and apply egg wash (whisked egg yolk) to all edges, roll over the dough and seal
– Cut into pieces as desired
– Apply egg wash (whisked egg yolk) to the top of the patties
– Line baking tray with parchment paper (can also apply butter or oil to tray) and transfer patties to baking tray
– Preheat oven 350 degrees fahrenheit (F)
– Bake the patties for 30-35 mins until cooked and golden brown from top
– Once done baking, let cool and serve with ketchup and chutney
* To bake without an oven follow these instructions:
– In a large pot, add 2 cups of salt and cover and heat on medium heat for 10 mins. Then, place the patties in a greased plate and place in the pot. Cover the pot and bake for 25 mins on medium heat till patties rise and are golden.
