Final Fantasy X – A Quicker way of filling in the sphere grid

*** EDIT – there is a MUCH quicker way of filling in the sphere grid that i discovered after i made and shared this, find that vid HERE https://www.youtube.com/watch?vU2IT5F371pY (all the rest of the information still applies except you’re fighting Don Tonberry instead of Master Tonberry, and set everyone’s overdrive mode to ‘Comrade’ INCLUDING TIDUS and ideally everyone in your party wants ‘Auto-Phoenix in their armour) ***

Catch at least 1 ‘Master Tonberry’ from the Omega Ruins. Better setups of weapon mods are out there but Auto-Phoenix in someones armour Is pretty much essential. Set Tidus’s overdrive mode to ‘Stoic’ and your other 2 party members’ to ‘Comrade’…

Collecting the items you need to customise your weapons like this can be very tedious and time-consuming although some of the items you can get much easier, you get 99 ‘Underdog’s Secret’ for collecting all 26 Al Bhed primers and then talking to Rin on the airship. Also you get 99 ‘Door to Tomorrow’ for catching at least 1 of every fiend in six areas and talking to the owner of the Monster Arena.

‘Winning Formula’ (for ‘Triple Overdrive’) are a bit trickier to come by. If you have a LOT of spare gil then you can bribe a fiend called ‘Sand Worm’ from the Bikanel area for about 900,000 and he should drop you some as he leaves the battle. If not the MUCH more time-consuming method is to catch at least 1 of every fiend from ALL areas then speak to the owner of the monster arena, you’ll be rewarded with 99 ‘Winning Formula’

As for the armour ability ‘Auto-Phoenix’, you’ll need 20X ‘Mega-Phoenix’. you can get 99 of these from breeding ‘Pteryx’ in the Monster Arena. to do this you’ll need to catch 4 each – Condors from Besaid, Simurgh’s from the Djose Highroad (surprisingly rare) and Alcyclones from Bikanel. Alternatively fight lots of machines in the Zanarkand dome and you’ll gradually build a stock of them over time. If you’ve got a lot of spare gil, an even quicker method of getting them is bribing a fiend known as ‘Ghost’ from the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth area. give him 199,980 gil and he should leave you with lots of mega phoenixes

Alternatively try fighting fiends that have a chance of dropping weapons with some of these abilities pre-loaded, you’ll have to find those yourself though, not enough space here to go over them all! However i’d strongly recommend fighting ‘One Eye’ in the monster arena’s ‘Species Conquest’ until you get weapons for your characters with the ‘Triple AP’ ability and at least 2 free slots (for ‘Overdrive – AP’ and ‘Triple Overdrive’)

Overdrive – AP 10X ‘Door to Tomorrow’
Double Overdrive 30X ‘Underdog’s Secret’
Triple Overdrive 30X ‘Winning Formula’
Double AP 20X ‘Megalixir’
Triple AP 50X ‘Wings to Discovery’

A weapon with all three ‘Overdrive – AP’ ‘Triple Overdrive’ and ‘Triple AP’ will level up a character at a ridiculous rate! But collecting the items for all these powerful mods can take a LONG time…
