Finding old stuff metal detecting the rock walls in New England

The rock walls built back in the Colonial New England days are a great place to do some metal detecting for relics and artifacts. These stacked stones have seen a lot of activity over the centuries with all the work in these now over grown fields and pastures. Out today with my Fisher F19 I walked from one clear hole to the next which is where the old home sites were and detected along the way. I found old buttons and other relics and thought about how different the sections of the woods are now on either sides of these walls. With so much history at different points in time it makes a big difference as to what we have now for land conditions. Hike and explore these old deserted places and you will find old stuff buried in the ground.
