Hello Friends! Today we’re going to show you how to make supercute Hello Kitty candy apples! These treats are inspired by Hello Kitty’s favorite treat, her mama’s apple pie, and perfect to make with friends or to eat with some hot apple cider! So, get your baking supplies ready for this festive fall treat!

Materials Needed:
Small red or green apples
Lollipop or popsicle sticks
4 cup sugar
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup water
White food coloring
Black, yellow, and red fondant
Knife
Candy thermometer
Vanilla extract (optional)

Step-by-step instructions
(00:45) Step 1: Wash your apples thoroughly to get the wax off. Look for apples that are wide and oval like Hello Kitty’s head.
(00:54) Step 2: To create Hello Kitty’s ear’s, cut a notch in the top of your apple on both sides. Take another apple and cut out two arrows and place them in the notches. They should fit snugly. If not you can try again until you have the perfect fit. Push a stick into the apple.
(01:20) Step 3: In a saucepan, mix together the water, sugar and corn syrup. Add a little vanilla extract if you want vanilla flavored apples. Insert the candy thermometer and bring the candy mixture to a boil over medium/high heat. Let it boil until it reaches 300F/149C. Add white food coloring and stir until combined.
(01:46) Step 4: Pick up the apple and dip into the saucepan. Make sure each apple is evenly coated. Let the access drip off and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
(02:09) Step 5: Roll out three circles of red fondant. Flatten the two larger circles and make an indent on each one with an apple stick. Flatten the third circle and place in the middle. Use extra red fondant and a little water to secure Hello Kitty’s bow to the apple.
(02:29) Step 6: To make her eyes roll two pieces of black fondant into ovals and place them on the lower half of the apple. Roll out her whiskers with black fondant, the top whisker is level with the top of her eye. To make her nose, roll out a tiny piece of yellow fondant into an oval and place it between her eyes.
