Your short-term memory can’t hold more than 7 pieces of information on average.
By sharing over 7 items (7 numbers, 7 pieces of data, 7 facts, 7 charts, 7 concepts, 7 ideas), you’re ensuring your audience won’t remember large swaths of your presentation.
It’s truly data overload.
More is not more in a presentation. Less is more.
It’s simply brain science.
Carefully select the 3-5 items you want your audience to know and remember from your presentation, whether those are figures, amounts, percentages, or insights. Stick to JUST those 3-5, don’t push the limits, no matter how strong the urge.
Want to make sure you’re capitalizing on your audience’s short-term memory so they DO recall what you’ve shared AND it’s impactful?
