The new system against aircraft carriers and aircraft carrier strike groups is a mixture of MLRS and kamikaze drones. The projectiles can be launched from both warships and submarines. In my opinion, though, launching MLRSs from submarines is very problematic. The missile delivers the warhead to the area of operation of a group of enemy ships. After separation of the first stage of the missile, the projectile goes into kamikaze drone mode. After targeting drones with the help of satellites, a massive attack on enemy ships takes place.
It is known that the aircraft carrier group has a very powerful multi-level anti-aircraft defense. The use of a very large number of even low-powered shells can make the aircraft carrier defense less effective.
Such a system will probably never be built in the future, but it’s a pretty picture.
I suggest to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this miracle weapon in comments.
Go ahead.
