Well, the story goes back to 1,000 years ago during Japan’s Heian Period where Muzan Kibutsuji was born but was declared stillborn. Despite this, he showed signs of life. He was later diagnosed with a terminal illness that would take his life before the age of 20. In order to extend his life, he sought out a physician who experimented on him with medicine made from the Blue Spider Lily. The treatment was ineffective and Muzan became furious, ultimately killing the physician. He discovered he had gained immense strength and immortality but also that exposure to sunlight would lead to his death. The Blue Spider Lily medicine turned him into the first ever demon, making him the main antagonist in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
