Shadow Raids launch with the start of the Rising Shadows event.
From May 22nd to May 28th, Team GO Rocket will be taking over gyms with Shadow Pokemon along with Shadow Mewtwo as Shadow Raid bosses.
Shadow Raid bosses will have boosted attack and defense. You’ll be able to defeat Shadow Raid bosses by using Purified Gems, a new item that can be assembled from Shadow Shards.
Shadow Shards will be dropped by Team GO Rocket. Gather enough Shards to use Professor Willow’s newly invented Shard Refiner, and you’ll be rewarded with a Purified Gem.
You’ll be able to use Purified Gems to temporarily lower Enraged Shadow Raid bosses’ attack and defense. You and fellow trainers can stack multiple Purified Gems during Shadow Raids, helping to weaken attack and defense even more.
If enough Purified Gems are used, they can return Enraged Shadow Raid bosses to non-Enraged states, giving you the chance to defeat them.
Shadow Mewtwo will be in Shadow Raids May 27th and May 28th. Do know that there will be no team bonus for Premier Balls in Shadow Raids, and Shadow Raids will be for local raiding only, meaning you cannot Remote Raid Shadow Raids.
