In Hogwarts Legacy, Merlin Trials are introduced early on, and you will need to complete a number of them in order to boost your inventory space.
You get told about them early in the main quest line shortly after your first trip to Hogsmeade.
The Merlin Trials consist of a number of short puzzles, but some require specific spells, making them unbending to beat.
