Ikana Castle Walkthrough & the Elegy of Emptiness – The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Walkthrough
You’ll need a Powder Keg so buy one before doing anything else. There are two ways into the Ancient Castle of Ikana. The first is by going through the Empty Well. The second is the shortcut that allows you to go to the castle straight from Ikana Canyon. Inside the castle are several ReDead. The ReDeads will dance if you wear the Gibdo Mask, Garo’s Mask, or Captain’s Hat.

If you want to get the Piece of Heart outside of the castle then you’ll need to get on top of the roof (just after the room with the two Blue Bubbles). Peer off to the right and there will be a couple pillars with flames on them, one with a Piece of Heart, and another with a Crystal Switch. Shoot the Crystal Switch to momentarily lower the fire, jump onto one of the pillars, then make your way over to the Heart Piece as Deku Link. You can see it done in the video linked below.

The Boss fight consists of two parts: Igos’ Servants and then Igos du Ikana himself. When the fight begins the first thing you need to do is shoot one of the lowered window curtains with a Fire Arrow. If you wish, stand in the light and burn down the other curtain.

Using the Spin Attack against the servants is very effective, especially if you have the Gilded Sword. Alternatively, you can treat them as if they were a Stalfos from Ocarina of Time and fight them that way. When you have done enough damage to them, they will collapse. You need to then reflect sunlight onto them while they are still down to defeat them, otherwise they’ll just get back up. When you defeat one, finish the other off.

*Side Note* If you wear the Bremen Mask and start marching they will march with you. They remain open to attack for a very brief moment when you stop so you can try to use that to your advantage if you’d like. You can see this in the video linked below.

After you’ve defeated both of the servants, Igos will fight you. The Spin Attack works well against Igos, too. His attacks aren’t too much of a problem except for one. He’ll remove his head and become invincible all while his head is flying around the room trying to get you. When his head reattaches to his body you’ll be able to damage him again. Once you do enough damage to him, he’ll collapse. Just like with the others, use the Mirror Shield to reflect sunlight onto him to finish him off. After you defeat him, he’ll teach you the Elegy of Emptiness.

*Side Note* If you wear the Captain’s Hat at any point during the fight with Igos, he’ll momentarily mistake you for Skull Keeta. You can see this in the video linked below.
