Is Inkbound worth your time? – Inkbound Review

/”Inkbound” is a turn-based action roguelike developed and published by Shiny Shoe the makers of the critically acclaimed and popular game Monster Train. In Inkbound the magic of the written word comes to life, as anything and everything is made through the story, and the ink that pens it’s words. You will start as a Needless, a nonverbal blob of ink with a malleable form that can take on different and powerful aspects along with your Kwill. As the story unfolds you will work out of a library style hub, with a diverse cast of characters that will give you quests, encouragement, and “constructive criticism” as the ever-locked door of the “Inkbound” remains mysterious. Are they really toiling away to any benefit? And who has seen, or spoken to them recently?

Your work will consist of gathering ink which is collected through corrupted stories, and enemies, but the magical library of Atheneum contains all the stories ever written meaning the game is ever expanding and with each new book added comes a new world in which and a diverse set of environments, enemies, challenges, and characters await.

There are currently 6 aspects or classes to choose from each time you play, with three unlocked to start the game and the other three unlockable via short quests that will present themselves within the first few hours of play. The game also boasts a multiplayer mode allowing players to drop in, and out of a team-based run, setting one up with friends, or using the quick find feature to find a party. Leaderboards and challenge runs are separated out based on whether you are running alone or based on the # of members in your party.
