I hope your TikTok and Instagram fame was worth it kid. This conveyor belt sushi prank went viral in January and the kid went from fame to bust in seconds.
I hope you enjoyed today’s video. Share what you think in the comments and subscribe to Random Japan for more Japanese news and VTuber updates, life in Japan vlogs, and for Japanese food and facts shorts.

The original Sushiro incident (video) got this Japanese high school student some major internet clout but also trouble with authorities. The sushi licking incident dubbed ‘sushi-tero’, ‘sushi terror’, ‘sushi terrorism’ or simply ‘sushi prank’ in Japan sparked outrage from the wider community causing Akindo Sushiro (the parent company of the Sushiro conveyor belt sushi restaurant chain) to lose 16 billion yen since.
Outside of the financial loss, copycats have come out on different platforms lining up with more Japanese youth wanting that ever-elusive internet fame.
Sushiro was not the only sushi train restaurant to be affected by the sushi pranks. Copycats have gone on to do the same at Kura Sushi
