By feeding flag flowers to the wild spirits, you have a chance of taming them, although this is not guaranteed. Repeat attempts are more likely to succeed, so make sure to have multiple flowers in your inventory.
The flag flowers are specifically found next to water, and if you harvest their seeds, these cannot be planted in soil. Instead, you will need to plant these in water and take 7 days in Fall to grow.
