This now only works when you are in a shop menu. It has been confirmed by many people that it does still work as on Feb 2020.
The item duplication glitch is very simple to do but does take some time to master the timing of it.
Select the item that you want to duplicate (this has worked with everything I have tried it with so far) then press square then triangle quickly afterwards.
If you do this correctly you will see the item still selected but also moved either into the quick bar or your inventory. You then have to press the X button. ( use console button configurations)
Once you have a decent stack of items duplicated sort the items and you will notice that the amount will add up very quickly.
When you use or sell an item it does sell from all of the stacks but they are very easy to restock using the glitch.
This duplication glitch does work on a clean install on the PS4 so if you do want to do this and it has been patched out it will work on a fresh save.
You’re better doing this with smaller single stacks so I will buy or create 1 thing. Duplicate it a few times then combine. Duplicate that once or twice then combine. Once it’s like 100 i would duplicate it once then combine them until it was like 512 I think then leave it there. If you combine it and it’s over 999 it will go crazy into mad stacks that will go down when you sell from one stack without either reloading or moving stack individually which was just a pain. Once you have a little money wait until the last Saturday of the month like the 27th (if I remember correctly) then go buy a broken mirror off the strange salesman from the docks.
Once you have this you are set for selling items one stack of these at 500 will last you all game. You sell like 3 of them for 50k.
