Road 96: Mile 0 Full Game Walkthrough No Commentary
Today we have something very special! Last year a title that caught multiple people’s attention was Road 96. This adventure game came as a surprise to me and I have not yet played and archived it, but today we are taking a look at the prequel that releases this year. We follow the two characters Zoe and Kaito who live very different lives in the city of White Sands. Zoe is wealthy and lives in luxury while Kaito’s family is poor.
I loved the atmosphere in the game and enjoyed exploring each location. It is chockfull of detail with secrets to discover and characters to talk to. I also loved winks to certain movies like Parasite when it comes to Kaito’s apartment. In between all the adventure areas the game throws some rhythm gameplay your way. And though this might initially scare off some people who hear that this is partly a rhythm game, the execution is done really well. Instead of just having to press random buttons in an order or to the beat, you actively move around a track and can take different routes while enjoying the visual spectacle. THIS is how you make rhythmic sections fun in games so I hope other developers will take notes. Having now enjoyed the prequel my interest definitely has been piqued to see what the Road 96 is all about. So maybe in the future we will see what types of adventures lay await on the road for us.
