Senzo Meyiwa Murder Trial 13 October 2023

The trial within a trial is expected to commence in the Senzo Meyiwa murder case at the High Court in Pretoria. Five men are on trial for the murder of the soccer star who was shot and killed in 2014 while in Vosloorus, on Gauteng’s East Rand. Meyiwa was at the home of Kelly Khumalo’s mother when he was shot. On Wednesday, the state wanted to lead evidence relating to a confession and the pointing out allegedly made by accused 1 and two in the matter. However, defense counsel Sipho Ramosepele who represents both accused 1 and 2, wants to challenge the admissibility of the confessions. Ramosepele says accused 1 and 2 were assaulted and coerced into signing the confession statements.
