I’ve been celebrating Dia de Muertos in Mexico for years now. It’s by far my favorite holiday in Mexico. This year, I traveled to CDMX (Mexico City) and it was SO MUCH FUN!! During these 5 days I experienced:
– Dia de Muertos desfile (the Day of the Dead parade)
– Elaborate ofrendas, aka altars to remember loved ones who have passed
– Extremely delicious food
– Xochimilco and seeing the famous Prehispanic axolote / axolotl
– Getting my face painted like a catrina
– Meeting new friends
– People watching on Avenida Reforma
– Pets dressed up in costume
– Going to Plaza Garibaldi to see mariachis
– Seeing lots of people dressed up in elaborate costumes
– All the festivities in the zocalo of Mexico City
– The Victoria Cempasúchil experience (marigolds!!)
– Art at Jardin del Arte Sullivan
– Mexican street food
