Sonic 3 & Knuckles Level Select and Debug Mode Codes – Retrogaming Easter Eggs #shorts

In Sonic 3 & Knuckles for the Sega Genesis, there’s a super easy code that grants you access to the Level Select screen (which also has a sound test). There’s also an equally easy code that lets you use Debug Mode features. And if you want to know how to do it, just watch the video!

For the Sound Test and Level Select, you will first need to grab onto one of the swinging bar things. You can find one about 12 seconds into the first level of Angel Island Zone. While swinging from one of these bars, press Left, Left, Left, Right, Right, Right, Up, Up, Up. If performed correctly, you will hear a sound effect as if Sonic (or & Knuckles) has collected a ring. Now you can press Start to pause, and hit the A button to return to the title screen.

Now on the title screen you can scroll to the Sound Test option, which also happens to be the Level Select screen.

Now if you go to Mushroom Hill Zone and hang from one of the umm pulley elevator things? You can enter the same set of inputs and you’ll yet again hear a sound effect like you just collected a ring. Now yet again hit Start to pause, then press A to return to the title screen.

Back at the Sound Test/Level Select menu, hold A, B, and C as you enter a level of your choice. In this level, you will now have access to the Debug features. It takes a while to get used to how the Debug Mode works, but you’ll figure it out. You can place level assets, reverse gravity, and advance the game frame by frame. There’s also other features and stuff.
