Initial sowing of these plants was roughly early June of this year (2023), for anyone who wishes to know. Video recorded Oct. 28th 2023. Seed could potentially have been harvested sooner but wanted to give maximum maturation time…

I ran out of time to finalize the harvest in the form of hanging and starting the drying process… Ah, so is life 🙂
We’ll take these stalks and bundle them in reasonable groups and hang them from the ceiling in our living room for a few days so they can really dry down thoroughly. Suggestions on threshing, curing, use, storage, etc etc from this lovely community in the comments below will help inform what next steps may be. This is quite a small harvest, very much just a starter sense of working with these crops and beginning to save seed. Input from community is always welcome and especially when we’re just beginning to learn new skills and interactions with new plants!
