Today’s one minute game review is on Splatoon 3’s single-player story mode. Although Splatoon games are primarily known and enjoyed for their online multiplayer turf battles, the games also feature single-player, story driven experiences. And with the release of Splatoon 3, there’s a new campaign to play through. But is this mode worth your time? Well, competition in the online modes of Splatoon 3 can be pretty fierce, especially for newcomers to the series. Luckily, the story mode is the perfect way to familiarize yourself with the mechanics of the game without the pressure of competing against others. The single-player mode is level based, with each level acting as a themed challenge. Some levels focus on mastering a specific skill. While others are puzzle based, and some are simply combat challenges. But no matter the theme, almost every level was a hit for me, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed working my way through each challenge. Throughout the campaign, you’re introduced to and taught how to use each of the game’s weapons and specials. But the story mode isn’t just for newbies. No matter your skill level, you’ll likely find the puzzles and challenges to be fast-paced and fun. And of course, there’s the story itself, which can only be experienced via this mode. If you’re interested in Splatoon 3, do yourself a favor and don’t skip out on the single player story mode.
