Regarding Tri-Emblems, you may well get some with high level alchemy as you progress. However bear in mind that they are more expensive to make this way so you probably shouldn’t accept one of those unless it has amazing bonus traits.
Aim at getting a minimum of:
4x Philosopher’s Stones for active party weapons.
4x Exalithium Crystals for active party armour. (Optional but recommended: Upgrade those into Philosopher’s Stones as well.)
4x Dark Matter for Tri-Emblems.

Though it was stated there that Exalithium Crystals are sufficient for getting good armour, subsequent information suggests that it’s still best to use Philosopher’s Stones, though it costs more to smith with those so it’s really up to how fussy and dedicated you are.
