Inside of the concentration camps, many of the SS guards were known for their evil and brutality during the Second World War. There were many stories from prisoners of barbarism and horror, but many were forgotten and have never really been told. One man who suffered greatly inside one of the worst concentration camps was Johann Gruber, the Saint of Gusen. He was an Austrian Priest who spoke out against the Nazi occupation of Austria, and for this he was slandered by the Nazis and was imprisoned.

He was transported to Gusen, which was known for being a camp which was incredibly brutal and tough. Over 35,000 people died inside of the camp by the brutal conditions and the evil treatment, and prisoners were supposed to be worked to death. But Johann Gruber managed to smuggle in money to bribe SS guards who then provided starving prisoners with more food. His actions saved many lives. However the Commandant of Gusen found out about this, and Johann Gruber was tortured to death by the guards. His body was then displayed to act as a severe reminder to prisoners to stay in line. Today he is remember as The Saint Of Gusen.
