In 1939, Germany started World War II by invading Poland. The first in the long line of battles to come was the battle of Westerplatte, which saw a small Polish force heroically fend off the invaders for a week.

Below are the main sources I used.

These are from the Westerplatte Museum’s official website. Some of these are in Polish but are easily translated in browser.

And a couple more sources.

Wikipedia, as always for cursory research

The Osprey publication on the German invasion of Poland has a little info as well. The book /”Great Battles of World War II/” published by Parragon has some information as well, but some of it contradicts other sources, so I find it less reliable.

When sources conflicted, I trusted the official Westerplatte museum sources above others.
