Now a bait and switch is basically using the natural urges of a mob or a greedy hero and leading them into a trap. Simple enough. In the case of Castle Construction, that could mean surrounding this here gold mine in some creatures, but also boxing in those creatures in a box of Hamster wheels. Now the bait in this situation was the gold mine which was in clear sight and seems simple enough to get to, but the switch is that you’ve actually given them a one way ticket on the pain train courtesy of either the mob right behind the gold mine or the master wheel they thought they successfully dodged beforehand. You’ve got to remember what your enemies are after when they’re looting your home, money. Using this to your advantage will help you walk any hero right into the prefect trap with nothing but a few health potions to their name.
Now when you’re exploring dungeons the same kind of system can work with monsters. Did you just roll through a precarious amount of traps only to face a load of mobs? Well, let’s test the mobility of your enemies! Run them back through the traps layed out by the castle creator and take the free loot they drop when you grind them to a pulp. In that situation, you were the easy bait that got them caught in a load of traps and fire. This whole game operates under this philosophy of outsmarting your opponent so always keep that in mind when you’re stuck in a bind and don’t know how to get out.
