Culture: Dark
Society Traits: Prolific Swarmers, Ritual Cannibals (You can go Scions of Evil instead of one for a slightly different build)
Starter Tome: Beasts
Ruler Origin: Wizard King
Ruler Weaponry: Shield (or Druid’s staff if you don’t mind the /”clever use of game mechanics/”)

Combo:
Angelize Major Transformation for Control loss immunity
Awaken Instincts for extra turns
Overchannel to reset once per combat for 3 turns in a row
Dark Knights for Dark Surge
Spur to action for a 4th round with 1 of your knights

Extra strong points:
Flanking and crit bonuses for damage and morale damage.
Animal summoning for synergies and diversifying army cost
Wildspeakers for Animal upkeep
Pursuers for early game and support (they are amazing)
Extra Sieging for faster conquests.
