To unlock the new character Genevieve we have to take on the Boss Je-Ne-Viv, a monster that looks like it was combined out of several characters. After getting decimated by the boss it turns out that we don’t have to win the fight to unlock the new character, but the target is set to beat the boss, as it also unlocks Hyper Mode for the Abyss.
