Today’s one minute game review is on Unravel Two from Coldwood Interactive. So, my wife, Katherine, and I have recently started playing this one, and it’s really something special. Although it can be played single-player, Unravel Two is, at its heart, a cooperative puzzle platformer where, in order to traverse the world and solve puzzles, you and a partner need to work together and manipulate a shared strand of yarn that is strung between your two characters. You can also use the yarn to swing from, climb up, and bounce around the terrain. The unique yarn mechanics alone could make for a fun game, but Unravel Two delivers well beyond simple entertainment. The movement is extremely fluid and satisfying. The puzzles are clever without feeling overly difficult. And my favorite thing is that the understated music, combined with the smokey, tilt-shifted art style, creates an atmosphere that’s extremely relaxing. Kat and I have played a lot of games together, especially platformers, and we agree that Unravel Two sits at the very top of co-op games in its genre.
