I admit I haven’t covered Shogun 2 mods all that much, but by JOLLY do we have some massive Total War news today! In this video I show you two of the most awesome upcoming Shogun 2 mods I’ve ever seen – first, the Carlist Wars mod for Total FOTS, a mod that takes us into the Victorian era with a focus on southwestern Europe in the 19th century after the Napoleonic Wars.
Carlist Wars offers an incredibly detailed and large map, and with all new mechanics, like the seasons actually having a major impact on your soldiers, new campaign models for farms and train stations and cities, and all new factions. At release, the mod will feature playable factions like France, the Kingdom of Spain, Great Britain, Portugal, and factions in Italy and North Africa. As far as I’m concerned, this mod is a must-watch, and will surely bring a whole lot of awesome stuff down the road, with an estimated and planned release of within the year.
The second mod we’re looking at is Old World Overhaul, another total conversion mod for Shogun 2 that completely remakes the entire campaign map from Japan to Europe. Even though everything else is vanilla and this is more of a proof of concept, it’s incredible what’s possible with the Shogun 2 engine. And even though we currently have the vanilla Shogun 2 factions on that Europe map, perhaps one day someone will outfit it with FOTS factions or something even better.
