Nonary Games is out on Steam, which includes the games 999 and Virtue’s Last Reward! I missed out on these classics when they first came out. If you enjoy playing through visual novels, you’ll enjoy these games!
These kinds of games also feature /”escape/” puzzles – where you must solve a puzzle using objects within a room or two to escape the room. Really a lot of fun.
Virtue’s Last Reward is similar to 999 in terms of gameplay, but it is a very slow game. I liked how 999 was wrapped up in a story that wouldn’t take too long and could be beaten easily. On the other hand, VLR has cutscenes that are sometimes 2-3 hours long a piece. Makes Metal Gear Solid 4’s cutscenes look like a 1 minute long commercial.
I really hate Zero Jr’s voice acting in Virtue’s Last Reward. Clearly must’ve been some sort of nepotism in hiring that voice actor, I’ve never heard acting so bad that it almost gave me ear damage. Sheesh.
