Deciding what magic items to give top your players early on in a campaign is one of the toughest parts of being a DM. You don’t want to break your game by throwing a legendary artifact to the players at level 2, but you also don’t want to have your players complaining about the lack of loot.

So I am going to wade through the Dungeon Master’s Guide and pick out my top 15 Magic Items to give to player characters under level 5. These range from offensive wands, to beautiful armor, to a wide array of wondrous items. No matter what type of party your campaign has, at least one of these items is sure to delight.
